Harvest in both Mexico and California is light.
MEXICO
- The past three weeks: harvest have been light
- So far, this week we are 50% of last week
- Mexico wants to increase costs in the field and packers are only harvesting as little as possible
- Old crop volume is on the decline
- Old crop organics are finishing up
- Eating quality is amazing and shelf life is less
CALIFORNIA
- Field prices are lower and growers are picking less.
- Growers are expecting tight summer volume. Those that can hold their fruit will do so and gain higher returns.
- Eating quality is excellent and shelf life is strong.
- The crop is small both conventionally and organically.
- Most of the CA Hass will remain in the West
